Rock Bass
Freshwater Rock Bass are typically on the smaller side, averaging 6 to 10 inches in length. Many people turn their noses up at the thought of eating Rock Bass (especially on Walleye lakes) – but I have had them several times in the fall and didn’t think they were “soft” or “fishy tasting” at all. Perhaps during the dead heat of summer Rock Bass fillets are softer (the biggest complaint I have heard), but the ones I’ve caught in the fall tasted great.
